Beautiful biodiversity in a unique cemetery!

  • Offered in English, Swedish
  • Härryda
At Härryda cemetery I have been given free rein to create rich environments with flowers and plants. In my job as a garden technician, my team and I have decorated and embellished a dozen graves, each with its own unique arrangement and all with the aim of increased biodiversity and providing a lush, flower filled space for butterflies, bees and other pollinating insects. The graves that we have worked on are graves that are to be cared for by the pastorate, so instead of removing the grave markers we have used them to create a beautiful, planted area. The cemetery should be a place on earth where biodiversity thrives. If you want tips and ideas on plants that benefit all our insects and If you are curious about what is happening behind the scenes at a Swedish cemetery, then I welcome you to visit me at my work. For about 1 hour I will take you around the cemetery and tell you about my fascinating and enjoyable working day. Welcome!

About Your Host, Maria

My passion is biodiversity, and it makes me so happy that my job contributes to making the world a little greener and a little happier for animals and humans. My work as a garden technician in Landvetter-Härryda Pastorate gives me a fantastic freedom to be creative and to make the cemeteries a paradise for people and animals. When I'm not working, I like to stay outdoors and in the winter it's for the skiing. I love to spend time with my adult daughters. I like music and sports and maybe you will spot me standing in the audience at the sing-along with Lotta at Liseberg.
